When Kenton
County School District officials said the new Turkey Foot Middle School was
going to be "green," they meant it in every possible way.
The school
just added its 13th energy-saving feature by installing $2 million worth of
solar panels.Customized imprinted and promotional usb flash drives.
It is
the largest electric-producing solar array in the state, according to the
district, at more than 60,000 square feet. It's expected that on weekends and
during the summer, the building will produce more electricity than it needs,
meaning the power can be sold back to Duke Energy.
"The entire roof is
covered with the panels," said Chris Baker, the district's energy systems
coordinator. "This almost gets us to net-zero."
Turkey Foot's goal is to
be the first net-zero middle school in the state, meaning it would produce as
much electricity as it uses.
The school, which opened last August, will
celebrate its newest addition with a "Flip the Switch" celebration at 12:30 p.m.
Thursday.
Trey Grayson,we supply all kinds of oil painting reproduction, a Turkey Foot
graduate and former Kentucky Secretary of State, will lead the "Flip the Switch"
countdown by web cam from his Harvard University office.
The panels were
funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Kentucky
Department for Energy Development and Independence.
The district has
been a state leader in energy savings. Turkey Foot is the district's third

Middle School in Independence. What to consider before you buy oil painting supplies.
The
district has recorded roughly $3 million in energy savings in the last four
years, Baker said.
Other energy features at the school include: "green"
building materials, insulated concrete forms, porous pavement, geothermal
heating and cooling, daylight harvesting, solar light tubes, rainwater catchment
system, biofiltration swales, retention and detention basins, advanced
mechanical systems, a vital sign screen and photovoltaic cell system.
Dear Annie: I live in a small condominium
community of 24 units. Two units down, there is an older woman who is a hoarder.
She continually has trash piled up by her front door and back porch. When you
look through her glass sliding doors, you can see trash from floor to ceiling.
She piles up garbage on her car, and it sits there for several days before she
takes it to the Dumpster. She also has two dogs, and we never see her walking
them. This has been going on for the past 15 years.
The board of
directors of our condo association has tried everything from calling the county
municipal department to notifying animal control. The board has fined her for
various misdemeanors, such as not allowing pest control in her unit and leaving
all that trash around, but it makes no difference.buy landscape oil paintings online.
The woman does not talk to anyone in the community, and we never see
friends or family visit. We are all afraid of what that unit looks like inside.
Any suggestions?
Condo Owner
Dear Owner: Hoarding is a form of
mental illness, and this woman likely needs professional help. Since you can see
the trash inside her home, as well as outside, it may constitute evidence that
her hoarding has created a health code violation and the Department of Health
could order her to clean it up. There may also be a fire hazard, in which case
the condominium board should notify the fire department. As a last resort, the
condo board could sue her. Ask the board to discuss this problem with their
association attorney to see what steps can be taken.
Dear Annie: My wife
and I are friends with "Mike" and "Marty,Not to be confused with RUBBER MATS available at your local
hardware store" who are in their early 20s, a bit younger than we are. Mike and
Marty pick fights over the most ridiculous things, and even if you make a good
point, they won’t agree. They do things they know will bother or offend us, such
as when they make anti-religious comments.
They also seem unappreciative
of things we have done for them. I helped Mike work on his car and was never
thanked for it. We have had them over for dinner more than once and have yet to
be told "thank you" or to receive an invite to their place. They sometimes say
nice things on Facebook about their other friends, but never about us.
I
honestly enjoy hanging out with Mike and Marty,The name "magic cube" is not unique. but the little fits
they have over ridiculous things are getting old. Lately, we’ve stopped
communicating, just to see what will happen. It would be nice to be appreciated
for our efforts. How do we handle this?

their limitations and accept them as they are. And if they say something

Campaign?
Perish the thought!
Pay no mind to President Obama's Hispanic
voter-themed immigration push, the birth certificate fiasco, his frequent
interviews with battleground state local television, the Osama bin Laden
non-victory lap, outreach to key constituencies, or the exhausting schedule of
fundraisers -- the president is really not thinking about the campaign right
now.

Region Three
officials rapped over inability to account for seized material
The
contractor in question defaulted in the construction of a bridge at Zeeburg,
East Bank Essequibo after being given a mobilization advance of $458,620. In
response to queries by the Auditor General, the region's administration said
that it had confiscated some of the piles that were originally to be used for
the bridge and utilized them elsewhere. What are the top Hemroids treatments? The piles
that were not used in other projects were taken to the region's storage
facility.
However, yesterday, Acting Regional Executive Officer (REO)
Paul Ramrattan was unable to say how many piles had been acquired and utilized
by the region.Handmade oil paintings for
sale at museum quality, Ramrattan, who has been serving in the post for the
past 11 months, was quizzed intensely by PAC Chairperson PNCR-1G MP Volda
Lawrence as the 2009 Auditor General Report was being examined.
With no
details coming from Ramrattan regarding the contractor, quantity of piles
confiscated and whether the contractor had a bond, Lawrence became agitated.
"You come to Public Accounts Committee today…, you come before us with
all of your staff, you can't tell us who is the contractor, you can't tell us
whether there was a bond…you can't give us the value," she observed. She
continued: "You tell us in your comment how you confiscated piles, you cannot
tell us how many piles you confiscated, you tell us that some went to the
compound and some went to another project, you cannot tell us how many entered
the compound, you cannot tell us how many went to the other project and which
other project. You can't tell us anything."
Lawrence went further to
suggest that the region may have been trying to protect the contractor. "I hope
I am wrong to have the perception that the region is trying to shelter this
contractor because that is the perception I am getting here that this person is
being sheltered," she said.
The PAC has given the region up to Monday to
provide a detailed response on the matter. Local Government Permanent Secretary
Nigel Dharamlall, who was also present yesterday, asked that the details
regarding the species of the wood, and their dimensions be provided.
The
region's administration was also rapped for the little progress that had been
made in recovering some $6.Not to be confused with RUBBER MATS available at your local
hardware store6 million overpaid to contractors from 2005-2008, and PPP/C MP
Bibi Shadick suggested a change in approach.
Instead of writing letters
to the defaulting contractors,We processes for both low-risk and high risk merchant account. Shadick suggested
bilateral engagements that would appeal "to their sense of nationalism and
patriotism". When it had been suggested that the region seek legal advice to
solve the issue, Shadick noted that in cases where the region has overpaid
contractors, it has no chance of winning a court case, since it had to first
sign a document indicating the work was completed before paying the contractor.
"We can't go to the court to ask for money from this man,Houston-based Quicksilver Resources said Friday it had
reached pipeline deals to get a judgement on the basis of the fact we paid him
too much money because we [the region] had to verify what he did before he was
paid," she said.
At one point during the proceedings, Ramrattan
explained that the region had attempted to reach a defaulting contractor but
that they did not have an address for the person. This irked Finance Secretary
Neermal Rekha who said that this was "a mockery" of the process. According to
him, "when an accounting officer enters into a contract with a contractor, he'll
have to have all the addresses, all the details, I don't understand why we come
to PAC and ask for legal advice and ask the PAC for addresses. I think we are
making a mockery of the system," he said.
