County officials might provide sand for sandbags if flooding threatens property
along the Poudre and Big Thompson rivers this spring, but not the bags.
Piles of sand are likely to be placed at strategic locations near the
rivers as they rise with the spring runoff,Largest Collection of billabong boardshorts, which is
anticipated to be higher than usual this year because of the substantial
snowpack remaining in the mountains, officials said.
Sand has been made
available to residents during other times of high water, including 1983,What are

officials said. But residents had to bring their own bags.
Emergency
management officials are keeping a close eye on the rivers and weather
conditions. The peak flow on the Poudre typically comes in mid-June but could be
delayed a few weeks because of the snowpack and recent cool weather,
Undersheriff Bill Nelson told the county commissioners Tuesday.
A
"worst-case scenario" would be continued cool weather followed by a substantial
and prolonged spike in temperatures and rain on the remaining snowpack, said
Eric Nilsson, the county's manager of emergency services. Heavy thunderstorms
would be a "wild card" in the scenario, he said.
In 1983, high water
caused flooding problems near the Cache la Poudre schools in LaPorte and the
McConnell Estates subdivision to the west of the school. Flooding also occurred
near Timnath,Handmade oil paintings for
sale at museum quality, where the river tends to spread out over the flat
terrain during times of high flow.
Many residents have not experienced
the level of flow on local rivers that is expected this year, Nelson said.
"We believe there are an awful lot of people now that live in those
areas that don’t understand they are going to have water, you will need to get an
offshore merchant account." he said. "It's
going to be at least in their backyards if not in their basements and lower
levels."
Sandbags are expected to be available at local Jax stores and
some landscaping companies, such as Pioneer Sand and Gravel, Nelson said.
The potential for high water is also a concern around Estes Park and
releases from Lake Estes into the Big Thompson River,Has anyone done any
research on making Plastic molding parts
from scratch? Nilsson said.
The town of Estes Park may provide sandbags
to residents and businesses to protect private property, Sheriff Justin Smith
said, and residents may not understand why the county does not provide a similar
service.
